Lapas grelhadas (grilled limpets)
Yesterday, I had lunch with the family at Fall River Grill, in Fall River, MA. My wife Elsa was craving lapas (limpets) and since we had to go to North Dartmouth, MA, for an eye exam for her, we stopped in Fall River for lunch.
The food was good. We generally avoid Portuguese restaurants in the Providence area, because we do not like any of them. In general, I feel, they are either too far removed from what is Portuguese food, or else they employ cheap ingredients which make the meal taste, in plain terms, bad. Since Fall River is too far away, we do not go there often, so yesterday we combined the need to go to North Dartmouth with the pleasure of a good meal in a Portuguese restaurant.
Besides Lapas, we also had bitoque (Filipa), garoupa grelhada (Elsa and Maya), caldo verde (Maya) and bife da casa (me).
It all tasted really good and the ambiance was typically Portuguese.

hi Ze,
It is heartening to know you can savor genuinely good Portuguese cuisine in Providence area- the falling standards of Luso-cuisine in Macau, not to mention the mushrooming of fake & pseudo-Portuguese eateries all over the place here is something that deserves a mention on you blog.
